What we stand for
Seasonal
Fruit and veg are cheaper in season, and they haven’t travelled as far. This means that you’ll get the best quality and choice for your budget.
Local
We work closely with local growers and makers, who supply us with eveything from broccoli to honey and candles. Beanies is independent, so money spent here stays in the local economy.
Organic
We have the largest organic grocery in Yorkshire. Organic fruit and veg is grown without artificial fertilisers or pesticides. It’s a nature-friendly way to farm which improves soil health and biodiversity.
Zero Waste
We recycle our waste, donate surplus to local charities and compost veg clippings in a closed loop with our growers.
The Beanies Story
Beanies was founded in 1986. From humble beginnings in Hillsborough via a converted terrace in Walkley to our current store, Beanies has flourished.
We’re a Workers Co-operative. This means we are owned and run by our members, who all get paid the same hourly rate. Fairness, integrity and community have made us resillient and we’ve sucessfully stuck by our principles for four decades.
Friendly, helpful and much-loved in the community, Beanies is one of Sheffield’s greatest success stories.

We are closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Years Day and Easter Sunday. We have an onsite car park and the shop has accessible entry.
